Art was always in the backseat in Chris’ career but ever present. She earned her BA in business at East Carolina University and a minor in Art. Then completed her MBA in marketing from University of West Florida. After a 30-year career in which Chris was a senior executive for firms in venture capital investments, technology business development, and pharmaceutical global digital marketing, she left Philadelphia to pursue her passion for art. While working with Digitas Health, a member of Paris-based Publicis Groupe, she formed her silversmith business, Fishbone Designs, in her home and honed her metalworking skills with Moore College of Arts in Philadelphia. Chris left the corporate world in 2009 to move to Carolina Beach and in 2011 was able to fulfill another goal when she opened Artful Living Group with partner Mo Linquist. "Our retail shop, that has been open for 6 years, carries only artisan-made fun, functional decor, wearable art, and gifts from North Carolina artists as well as artists around the country. We downsized in 2016 and now have online shopping on Shop.ArtfulLivingGroup.com to continue to the unique shopping experience. "
Chris has silversmith training from Moore College of Arts and Design in Philadelphia, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC.
Each one-of-a-kind item is fabricated using sterling silver, brass, copper, and gold. Unique stones and gemstones from around the world are highlighted by the textures of the metals.
